To date our fire department has responded to three (3) fireworks related fires.  With no rain in sight and temperatures
rising, please be extra careful and keep an eye on your children.

Due to the upcoming election, signs are everywhere.  But wile these signs should be removed by the campaign workers
immediately after the election, moving sales, garage sales and miscellaneous notices must be taken down by Monday
morning.  The code compliance officer is spending a great deal of time taking down these signs and since we do have a
law in place, in the future he may bring the sign to the address listed with a ticket attached.

Ordinance 9.16.030  Placing signs on property of another.
It is unlawful for any person to place, stick, tack, paste, post, paint, mark, write or print any sign, poster, picture,
announcement, advertisement, bill placard, device or inscription upon any public or private building, fence, sidewalk,
bridge, viaduct, post, automobile, other vehicle or other property of another, without the consent of the owner or
person in charge thereof.

Section 12.08 of the Haskell Ordinances is the guide to the trees and shrubbery in town and who is
responsible for what.

If your property touches any street or alley of the town, you are responsible for trimming any trees or shrubbery
growing in the area between the sidewalks and the street.  Trees and shrubbery should be cut so they do not
obstruct free and convenient passage and travel along the streets, sidewalks and alleys.  When such premises
are occupied by some person other than the owner, that occupant shall trim the trees and shrubbery in the same
manner as required of the owner.  Trees and shrubbery shall be trimmed so that the lowest branches or foliage
are no lower than ten (10) feet above the roadway of a street or alley, or lower than eight feet above the sidewalk.

Refusal or neglect to trim trees and shrubbery shall be guilty of an offense against the town.  Every day that the
owner or occupant shall fail, refuse or neglect to trim the trees or shrubbery, after the expiration of the five days'
notice, shall be a separate offense.

Let's have a safe and healthy summer....
